Since I'm pregnant now, I figure that I should write some pregnancy topics also right???

A lot of mother-to-be are usually very worried about their pregnancy. One of the most common worries is whether they are gaining enough weight.

I see some mothers gaining 20 over kg during their pregnancy. And imagine when the baby comes out, he or she is only 3 - 4 kg.

Let's say the mother's weight is 50kg.

Before give birth : 50kg + 20kg = 70kg

After give birth : 70kg - 4kg = 66kg

Need to lose : 66kg - 50kg = 16kg !!!!

Not every woman is able to shed off 10 over kg de lor.. And STOP SAYING or EVEN THINKING that for the baby is worth it de, or being a mother is like tat de, all mothers are fat......Every woman hopes to be beautiful and have back their previous body de lor...

And the main point is, must we REALLY gain so much weight??

Usually the recommended weight gain is between 11kg - 16kg if you're not underweight or overweight. If you're underweight you're expected to gain more weight and if you're overweight to gain lesser.

Where does the weight gain go to?

Weight of average baby = 3.3kg

Extra fat during pregnancy = 2.5kg

Increase in body fluid = 2.6kg

The muscle layer of the womb grow drastically = 0.9kg

The placenta which keeps your baby nourished = 0.6kg

Increase in breasts = 0.4kg

Increase in blood volume = 1.2kg

Total weight gain = 11.5kg

Woman who do not gain enough weight, it is highly possible for you to give birth to small babies, weighing below 2.5kg. And they are usually more prone to having asthma, cough and cold and other health problems.

Gaining too much weight is also not good hor... It may cause backaches, leg cramps and varicose veins. And you may also develop hypertensiona and diabetes during pregnancy. And somemore the baby tends to be big, so its quite difficult to give birth naturally and you'll have to go for cesarean. Overweight babies will also be obese and diabetic when they grow up.

Very ma fan right??

Gaining weight, you also have to eat right. Things like those titbits, chocolates you can have them once in a while but not too much, since they will be just extra fats. More vegetables and fruits and more dairy products will be a better choice.

Don't stress yourself that you MUST gain 11kg. Even if you don't its ok. Like for me, I don't have a big tummy and my weight gain is damn little also. I only gained like 6 kg! I'm worried sometimes, whether baby will be too small. But then, if the gynae never comment then I guess everything should be fine ba.... For some woman, they don't really gain a lot of weight, even when they're pregnant!! I ever saw, on a forum, someone saying she only gained like 5kg throughout the whole pregnancy !!!! But still the baby is healthy la...

No matter what, pregnancy is the time for a woman to enjoy herself and be queen!! So preggies out there, don't keep on worrying about everything. If you have any worries, you should always speak to your gynae as I think they are the most competent to solve your problems. Enjoy!!!
